Strategies for Success: Insider Tips for Diverse-Owned Businesses

Kenyatta Lewis is the Director of Supplier Diversity for MGM MIRAGE, which is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. She manages the company’s supplier diversity efforts throughout the corporation’s seventeen hotel & casinos in Nevada, Michigan and Mississippi. This involves identifying, evaluating and working with minority-, women, - and disadvantaged- owned businesses on behalf of MGM MIRAGE. She is the liaison between qualified suppliers and the company’s procurement departments. She also oversees the supplier diversity training, tracking systems and reporting of all Supplier Diversity spends.

Ms Lewis is a member of the MGM MIRAGE Diversity Council, Procurement Strategic Sourcing Council and chairs the MGM MIRAGE Purchasing Diversity Committee. She is a the board member of the Nevada Minority Business Council, a member of The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development’s Recourse Council, The Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce Business Development Council and a member of the Hospitality Industry Group, which is made up of eleven of the country’s largest hotels who share strategies and create opportunities for M/W/DBE suppliers. Kenyatta is also active in her community through volunteered outreach at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, and works with her husband in the ministry within their church.
